In the premiere of season 2, Ross came home from China with a surprise: a new girlfriend. She is Julie (played by Lauren Tom), Ross's classmate in grad school, who is also a paeliantologist. They re-met on the trip in China. When Rachel found out about their relationship, she was disappointed because she thought she could start a relationship with Ross. Nonetheless she started looking for dates. On a date with a guy called Michael, she got so drunk that she called Ross and left a message saying that "I am over you." Later Ross heard that message, and was confirmed by Rachel that she had feelings for him. Feeling torn between two women, Ross made a list of pros and cons comparing the two (by the way that was encouraged by Chandler). Later the list fell into Rachel's hands somehow, and she was really mad, but nonetheless she forgave Ross and started going out. Meanwhile Monica was fired from her job at a fancy restaurant because she received kickback from a supplier. She started catering, and once she served her parents' friend Richard Burke, who was an eye doctor. Despite their age difference (of 21 years), they still got together and started going out. However they later broke up because she wanted to have kids but he didn't. Joey got his considerably huge break when he starred as Dr. Drake Ramoray in "Days of Our Lives." He made a lot of money, and moved out of Chandler's apartment to one of his own. Later, however, he told Soap Opera Digest in an interview that he wrote his own lines (eg. "That man's gonna die" -> "That man's not gonna live"). That made the screen writer so mad that he killed off Joey's part by making him fall off an elevator shaft. With his fortune gone, he went back to live with Chandler. Phoebe went to look for his dad after she found out that "the picture of a guy that comes with the frame" wasn't her dad's picture. She got words from her grandma that her dad was in upstate New York, so she started her search for her dad Frank. She found out that Frank also ran away from his second family, though she did find her half-brother Frank Jr. |
